"Successful business in a changing world" is the theme of the 77th UFI Annual Congress November 10 to 13, 2010 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The programme will address major developments and concerns within today's and tomorrow's exhibition world.
The International Association of Assembly Managers (IAAM) voted electronically last month to change its name to the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM). 88 % of the ballots indicated approval of the name change.
In its latest update on the progress of the 50-million EUR IMPACT hotel, the IMPACT Exhibition and Congress Centre in Bangkok, Thailand, announces that the building is now 70% complete and expected to open in January 2011 as scheduled. The hotel will be managed by Accor under the Novotel brand and operate under the name Novotel IMPACT Muang Thong Thani.
Increase revenue
Nonthaburi (akm) - IMPACT, Nonthaburi, Thailand, is launching its Choose & Chill Campaign to meet increasing demand from the members of the IMPACT Society Corporate Reward. The special packages for four targets are i-Exhibit for exhibition groups; i-Hotel and i-Con for conference and meeting groups; i-Live for entertainment and concert groups; and i-Celebration for function and party groups. The campaign is expected to increase revenue by 10 %.

is taking charge on October 1, 2010 of international sales management at Deutsche Messe in Hanover. He succeeds Andrej Gross, who will now be responsible in Moscow for the exhibition company’s operations in Russia.

HKECIA celebrates 20th anniversary
The Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Industry Association (HKECIA) celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in May 2010, and the new executive committee was elected. The new chairman for 2010-2012 is Daniel Cheung (Allworld Exhibitions - Hong Kong Exhibition Services). Executive vice chairman is Javed Khan (Kenfair International) and the two vice chairmen are Cramond Wong (AMC Exhibits) and Ronald Unterburger (MMI Asia). Andrew Kay (China Promotion) remains the association's honorary secretary, and its honorary treasurer is Culsin Li (Magic Media). Stanley Chu (Adsale Exhibition Services), the immediate past chairman of HKECIA, was nominated honorary life president in recognition of his chairmanship for four consecutive terms. New alliance partnership
Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) has announced that IMEX America is to become its newest Alliance Partner. The new alliance partnership will allow IMEX America, which launches October 11 to 13, 2011 at Sands Expo, Las Vegas, to roll out a series of extensive pre-show marketing campaigns to a large, qualified database of meetings industry professionals across the US.

IAPCO training: The Meetings's Masterclass
A new educational initiative from IAPCO - The International Association of Professional Congress Organisers is The Meetings Masterclass, an advanced training seminar held in collaboration with IPCAA. Intended for those with more than 6-years' decision-making experience in the industry, the Masterclass will take place at IAPCO's educational home of Wolfsberg, Switzerland from January 17 to 20, 2011 and will be run in parallel with IAPCO's Annual Wolfsberg Seminar. Australian Interior Design Awards
The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) shone at the 2010 Australian Interior Design Awards, winning the National Award in the Public Design category and the Best of State Award in the Commercial Design category. The venue was also Highly Commended in the Environmentally Sustainable Design category.
